Marko was baptized as a baby and grew up in church but was never satisfied with the limited bible teaching available to him. At this time, he took part in witchcraft and other behaviors he now sees as sinful. By God’s grace, Marko met with IDAT pastors when they came to visit his village and was amazed at their desire to freely teach the bible. His hunger for God’s Word led him to join Calvary Chapel Church in Tonj and he now leads a growing village church in Wargiir. Marko is married and has 8 children that all believe in Christ, live in peace with each other, make good decisions and shine the light of Christ to their neighbours. As Marko’s family gave their life to Jesus, many miracles were noticed. Marko’s sister was healed of a sickness, a healing occurred in Marko’s marriage and Marko’s father was healed of a sickness as well.
Marko is now the pastor of Wargiir and passionate about building the church through clear scriptural teaching and demonstrating love in action. Wargiir has suffered from insecurity and flooding resulting in food shortages. The church in Wargiir responds by assisting the community with their farming efforts to grow food. Since the planting of the church, Marko has witnessed that most of the conflicts within the village has stopped because of the transformation that comes with the gospel. Marko’s pastoral responsibilities include preaching the Word of God, conducting bible studies and visiting all the houses in Wargiir.
27 September, 2021 – We are constantly hearing of testimonies in Wargiir about how Jesus Christ is transforming hearts and the community. Recently, an old man by the name of Mabior was healed from a serious after receiving Jesus as his saviour. A lady by the name of Athiang who has previously had difficult births, testifies that her birth became easy after surrendering her life to Jesus. Over the last month, 40 people have given their life to Jesus and repented of their sins. Marko requests that you support him by praying that 100% of Wargiir will come to know Christ and that the community will have good health.
