The witchdoctor told him his biological father, who was unknown to him, sent an evil spirit to kill him. He refused to believe that and decided he needed more prayers and left the Catholic church to join the Episcopal Church. In 2020, IDAT's Community Health Evangelism program reached his village and he listened to the teaching and it moved him to join a Calvary Chapel in a nearby village. The village elders took him at age 10 and forced him to go for the traditional initiation ceremony which inolves cutting the forehead across four times with a knife and pulling out four bottom teeth using a spear and nothing to stop the pain or to avoid infection. He was not allowed to cry and make a noise. In 2007, John found himself alone and a neighbor took care of him. He started going to school and from there joined the Catholic church. He got baptized but knew something was missing. In 2019 he joined Calvary Chapel and started to learn the Word of God and realized he was not understanding the bible well. He left the Catholic church and joined CC Tonj, where he got saved and became a student of the Word. In 2022, John loved to share the Word of God and wanted to help people so Pastor Mabior appointed him as a chaplain.
