In Deed and Truth Ministries improves and helps Tonj and the surrounding communities with more than just improved health, but we raise up nationals to lead their communities for a deeper understanding of God’s Word and Jesus. From 2010 to date, we have gone from one small church in Tonj and two semi-trained pastors, to over 45 pastors teaching the good word in over 30 villages! Our membership each Sunday morning is over two-thousand people among our churches, and every man, woman, and child is sure to hear the proper gospel from experienced pastors. Pastors not leading a church become chaplains in our clinic, spreading Jesus’s love there, and taking care of the more managerial positions needed in this program, as well as supporting our main and largest church, Calvary Chapel Tonj. In Deed and Truth Ministries expects our growth in this ministry to continue expanding, and we expect 100 churches in 100 villages by 2030!

Simon Atong is a 24 year old single pastor of a village called Abiei-cok. Simon first heard the Gospel while listening to a Christian radio station. As he heard the Gospel he felt convicted about his sin and decided to surrender his life to Jesus in that moment. However, Simon's family was not happy about him becoming a Christian and they prevented him from attending church. It took 1 year for his father to eventually agree to him attending church. Simon met one of the In Deed And Truth pastors who encouraged him to continue growing his faith and not be discouraged by the resistance. Simon continued to pray, attend church, get baptised and eventually became a pastor. Simon's family remain unbelievers and he continues to present the Gospel to them. This allow him to share his faith with other Christians who also have family members who resist the Gospel.

Simon is a 34 year old married man. He is leading Calvary Chapel Muktau. Simon first came to faith as a young boy, however, his parents struggled to accept this and would not allow him to practice his faith often forbidding him to go to church and pray. As he grew in the faith he witnessed the enslavement his parents had with the world as they would often sell their possessions to seek traditional cultural practices. They would often lose their possessions plunging them further into poverty. This only cemented Simons faith knowing that he is serving a God who doesn't call for the possessions from a person for salvation. Simon Mayen is a 24 year old married man pastoring a church in a village called Rum-panapet (Apuk region). Before becoming a Christian, Simon battled with spiritual warfare. His family heavy relied on witchcraft for solutions to their many problems. While relying on witchcraft, a family member died every four years, including two of his brothers. However, an In Deed And Truth Regional Pastor preached the Gospel to Simon and called him to repentance and salvation. Simon accepted Jesus into his life and rejected the ways of witchcraft. Ever since this decision, no family members have died due to spiritual warfare. Now the family lives in the peace of Jesus Christ. His parents sold all their belongings to try treat his issues, however, nothing worked. He was then encouraged by his christian neighbors to not seek traditional cultural healing through witch doctors, but instead ask God for healing. Peter listened to their advice and started going to church and praying. As Peter continued seeking God, he was healed and he was able to see clearly with no problems. Marko was baptized as a baby and grew up in church but was unsatisfied with the limited bible teaching. Instead, Marko turned to witchcraft and other sinful behaviors to fill this area of his life. By God’s grace, Marko met with IDAT pastors when they came to visit his village, Wargiir, and was amazed at their desire to freely teach the bible. Marko gave his life over to Jesus. His hunger for God’s Word led him to join Calvary Chapel Church in Tonj. However, Marko is now a pastor of his own growing church in Wargiir where he preaches the Word of God, runs bible studies and visits all the homes in the village. Wargiir has suffered from insecurity and flooding, resulting in food shortages. Therefore Marko's passions are building the church, growing food and delivering the gospel for free.

William is a pastor of Calvary Chapel Abilek. His mother gave birth out of wedlock. His grandparents took him to the village and he was raised by his grandfather who was blind. He started going to Catholic church as a small boy and grew up in the Catholic traditions. At age 13 he got really sick and his grandparents took him to the witchdoctor. The witchdoctor told him his biological father, who was unknown to him, sent an evil spirit to kill him. He refused to believe that and decided he needed more prayers and left the Catholic church to join the Episcopal Church. In 2020, IDAT's Community Health Evangelism program reached his village and he listened to the teaching and it moved him to join a Calvary Chapel in a nearby village. After two years IDAT planted a church and asked him to pastor it. He is one of the best village pastors with a heart for the Lord and desire to evangelize.

Ps. John Machar serves as pastor for Calvary Chapel Tonj and as a chaplain at the IDAT Maternal Child Healthcare Hospital. John is from Tonj East and his father died when he was seven. The village elders took him at age 10 and forced him to go for the traditional initiation ceremony which inolves cutting the forehead across four times with a knife and pulling out four bottom teeth using a spear and nothing to stop the pain or to avoid infection. He was not allowed to cry and make a noise. In 2007, John found himself alone and a neighbor took care of him. He started going to school and from there joined the Catholic church. He got baptized but knew something was missing. In 2019 he joined Calvary Chapel and started to learn the Word of God and realized he was not understanding the bible well. He left the Catholic church and joined CC Tonj, where he got saved and became a student of the Word. In 2022, John loved to share the Word of God and wanted to help people so Pastor Mabior appointed him as a chaplain. He attended the chaplain training and volunteered even without sponsorship.

To fix this, his parents took him to witch doctors but their magic was unsuccessful in curing him.
