Peter Akeen Ruom, a 36-year-old husband and father of eight – five girls and three boys. Peter works as a full time chaplain with In Deed and Truth Ministry and lives to serve God, but my life wasn’t always this way. For years I served as a soldier, I was enslaved to alcohol and sin, destroying my possessions and hurting my family. My wife and children suffered greatly from my reckless choices, and I was spiraling deeper into darkness.
Everything changed one fateful night when I stumbled drunk into a raging river. As I nearly drowned, I cried out to God in desperation, and He miraculously saved me – both from the waters and from my sinful life. That experience broke me completely. I went to Calvary Chapel Tonj, repented of my sins, and surrendered my life to Jesus, declaring before the congregation that I would never return to Satan’s darkness. I now dedicate my time to learning more about Jesus and sharing his saving grace with the community of Tonj. I desire to see many people set free from the bondage of sin and to live a life in the freedom of Christ.
